Giving Resources
Thank you for considering giving a gift to strengthen our future of justice for all.
CHARITABLE IRA DISTRIBUTION
IMPACT: Make a significant gift to legal aid during your lifetime and reduce your taxable income.
WHY: Provide a charitable contribution and use it toward the required minimum distribution on your IRA.
HOW: If you are 72.5 years or older, you may make a lifetime direct transfer to ABLE and LAWO, up to $100,000 per year.
LIFE INSURANCE
IMPACT: Reduce estate tax and make a significant gift to support legal aid during your lifetime or after your passing.
WHY: Charitable tax deductions on premiums, and estate tax avoidance on value of policy.
HOW: You can name ABLE and LAWO as beneficiaries of your life insurance policy or gift your life insurance policy to ABLE and LAWO - we become the owner, and you remain the insured. You donate the amount of premiums annually, and we become the beneficiaries upon your passing.
RETIREMENT PLAN
IMPACT: The ability to withdraw funds during your lifetime, and the satisfaction that your hard-earned savings will continue to benefit others.
WHY: Dependents avoid income tax assessments on the amount designated to ABLE and LAWO, and you have the opportunity to change if your situation warrants. Estate tax charitable deduction.
HOW: You name ABLE and LAWO as the primary, a partial, or a contingent beneficiary of your 401(k), 403(b), IRA, or KEOGH. Continue use of retirement benefits during your lifetime.
BEQUEST
IMPACT: Make a gift to ABLE and LAWO after your passing and maintain control of your assets during your life. It is an effortless way to honor the causes you care about most upon your passing.
WHY: Estate tax charitable deduction, and the use and ownership of property during life. Revocable during your lifetime if your situation changes.
HOW: You may designate the bequest or leave it to ABLE and LAWO to determine where it is most needed. You can designate ABLE and LAWO as beneficiaries in your estate by will, trust, or through another instrument. You can designate a percentage of the estate or a set amount.

“I want to help to ensure the future of ABLE and LAWO
for those who desperately need their services.
By including them in my long-term giving, I feel confident there will always be a place for those who have no place to look for justice.
If we, as lawyers and public-minded citizens, don’t provide for the future of justice for all, who else is likely to do that?”
